Job

Sunday, August 19, 2007
So...I'm resigning my job. I have one week left at my current place of employment and then I'm moving on. I have a collection of reasons as to why I am doing this, but they all boil down to management treating me like I don't matter. Their level of disdain for me is just driving me crazy. So I put my resume on the market and within two weeks I had found something new.

Blah. So there.

Need a break

Monday, June 25, 2007
Every weekend for the past few weeks I've been travelling. I really
need some time off. Not to complain mind you. Three weeks ago I was
in the carribbean. This past weekend I saw a good friend of mine get
married.

It's posted on flickr if you're interested. If you don't have my
flickr info, shoot me an email.

Family

Monday, June 11, 2007
While I was away on vacation, one of my uncles died. I got the news when I returned and rushed to be there, but unfortunately, I missed the funeral. He was my godfather, which, if you're not Catholic, doesn't mean a lot. However, Catholics view the godparent as the religious role-model - not just a backup parent.

My uncle never had an easy life. He struggled to overcome things his entire life. Throughout it all, he was a good godfather though. He was an example of what a good person should be.

He really liked baking. So once we got home, the girlfriend and I baked chocolate-chip cookies in his honor...

Vacation Report

So after flying 7 hours, travelling 1000 miles, etc, etc... Not so much with the St. Lucia. Don't get me wrong, the beaches are nice, but unless you're one of the people who just stays inside of your resort all of the time, you'll be sorely disappointed. The people of the island are rude, greedy, and view americans/white people as nothing but moneybags. At one point, after volunteering directions (that I didn't need - I was already going the right way and didn't ask) a native girl stuck her hand out at me and demanded payment. I refused and she got beligerant. At another time I actually had natives attack the car I was in - demanding money. The few times I drove through the captial city (The Castries) - the driving was nigh on impossible since the pedestrians just walk out in traffic whenever they want. Oftentimes right in front of you.

Therefore, not so much with the Saint Lucia.

Movies

Sunday, May 20, 2007
Okay, Spiderman 3 was awesome. I can see why some people have said it
is dark though. I really enjoyed it and I think it did justice to the
moral questions that are the heart of the spiderman storyline.

On a side note, Laure and I are trying to prepare for 28 weeks later
by watching 28 days later again. So far the 4 stores we've visited
have been out of it...looks like everyone else had the same idea...

Test 123

This is a test message posted from my phone. Maybe this way I'll get up off my ass and post more, eh?

Smoking

3 months and no cigarettes...

That's not to say it's been easy. Every single damn day I want one. Not all the time mind you, but every so often (like every few hours) I'll just get this really strong urge to have one. That being said, I go by the rule that all addicts use: one is not enough and two is too many. Truer words were never spoken.

Vacation time

Image of Saint Lucia I borrowed from somewhere...
So Laure and I are going down to the islands again here in a few weeks. This time though, we're going to beautiful Saint Lucia. I've been going to the tanning bed for a month straight trying to get ready. I know that probably caused a bit of a chuckle...but please remember how easily I burn. I HAVE to prepare - otherwise the caribbean sun will cook my pale irish ass.

I haven't had any real time off since last July and I've been working hard, so I'm psyched about the time off. Even if it is only for 4 days...
