The Governator loves Trannies
Why is it whenever anyone from the Religious Right mentions family values, they do not mean families having those values, but rather those "values" being legally enforced? Case in point: SB 1234 of the California Penal Code. Recently signed into law by the "Governator", it allows the California Penal system to recognize Transexuals and intersexed peoples, rather than just shoving them into whichever cell block matches their "equipment".
I have no problem with this law. Basically it's saying that for those people who are, according to the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual v.4 - the "Bible" of psychology) suffering from Gender Dystopia are simply afforded that recognition. By the same token we try not to put claustrophobic peoples in tiny cells. It's cruel and unusual punishment to use someone's psychological weaknesses to torture them (which is what it would be - torture). So why has the religious right called this bill "anti-family"? I don't see in what capacity it acts against the family. No married father of two suddenly goes "You know what? I think I'm going to divorce my wife, abandon my children, get gender surgery, and commit a felony, all so I can take advantage of that new law our "girlie-man" loving Governer has signed into law!"
Does anyone really think this makes sense? If they do I would insist that they sit down and read a little about categorical logic. Or, as I like to joke: "It ain't valid Jack, so it be whack!"
