I heard an interesting factoid today concerning the sororities on campus. You see, the sororities here do not have houses, they are all (all 4), located in a dorm building specifically devoted to them. The reason this exists is the result of a Carroll county law that states that any house containing more than 4 females that are unrelated is a brothel, and de facto all of the inhabitants therein prostitutes. I guess this confirms my long-time practice of calling them sorostitutes. (g)

I don't know about anyone else, but I've had a smashing Christmas. I went out of town for almost a week and that's the longest I have been away from my apartment in a long time. Really clears the head up. On a second note, I cleaned the hell up at Christmas, getting almost everything I wanted. I really wanted more books, but beggars can't be choosers. An interesting story:
I'm outside on my Mom's porch on Christmas evening when I notice her neighbor taking out the trash. Not an unusual sight in and of itself, but later that evening when I was walking her dog, I realized that he had put a pair of speakers out with the trash. Later that night I went by and snagged them thinking that "Hey, they might be worth a few bucks". The next morning I hooked them up to the Stereo and guess what? They work perfectly! So now I've got a set of pretty nice big (about 2ft high) speakers sitting in my livingroom with nothing to hook them up to. I'm now contemplating buying a Home Theater system...hmm... Gotta love free stuff.

Ok folks, it finally came in: (edited for size)

Oh yeah, something funny I heard the other day:

An American diplomat was recently assigned to the UN. At his first meeting, the German represenative had something to say, so a translator came and sat down next to the American. The German started talking and continued to do so for quite some time without any word from the Translator, all the while the American grew more and more worried that he was missing out on something important. Finally (the German was still speaking), the American turned to the translator and demanded "Why aren't you telling me what he's saying?". The translator, without even looking at the American casually replied "Because he hasn't gotten to the verb yet."

I like that one...

I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've been enjoying my recent freedoms. It's extremely nice to be able to drink as much as I want, goof off as much as I want, and sleep as much as I want. It has gotten to be a bit much though, so today I decided that I've had enough time to slack off. I'm back on my diet and on my workout schedule in order to be ready for this Spring. I enjoyed my days off but there's work that needs to be done!

For instance, I recently updated my other website The Photographic Junkie. Only one or two new pics, but it really needed it. I hadn't touched it in a loooong time. I've also been thinking about photography in my free time, contemplating what's worth making photos of around here (not much).

I recently foudn an interesting article written by Mark Twain entitled The Awful German Language. I think he does a pretty acurate job of describing the pain I have been going through. (g)

So overall, I'm back to the grindstone, not too much though. I'm working on my conference paper (loosely entitled "Revising Non-combatant and Innocence justifications in Just War Theory"...sounds fun huh?) and making some decent progress. I'm also working on photography again, along with working out, and reading some books for fun, not school. So I'm pretty happy (if still a little lazy) and I'm trying not to think about the holidays. Take Care!

Maybe I'm becoming more militant. But anyway,

So here they are folks my grades. The only one that's missing is PHIL 3120, Philosophy in Literature. I would have to not take the final at all in order to get a "B" though, so it's an "A". So it's 58 Quality Points and 16 hours. That comes out to a 3.625 GPA for this semester. Considering that the requirement for Dean's list is 3.5, I'm pretty damn happy. I hope everyone realizes that this is the first time I've ever done well in school. I don't have the words for it really. I'm pleased as fuckin punch. (g)

Yes! This proves it! Performing oral sex reduces a woman's chances of breast cancer. I wonder if that will work as a pick up line. "Hey baby, want to avoid breast cancer?" On second thought, that might not work....hmmm

I've been thinking some more about my past relationships and I've come to realize a pattern of sorts. Not one that defines the entire process, but merely a part of it. This hasn't happened with all of my girlfriends either, just the ones that didn't hang around for long. It seems that I always find something about them that I don't like. Generally, this has to do with sex. It acts almost like a sore tooth, I worry and worry it until there's no choice but to have it yanked. The reason that I comment on this is that I do this with everyone. With certain relationships though, I don't find faults in my people emotionally or mentally, but sexually. Maybe this shows how I view the relationship. Maybe I'm not even giving it the time to become something more than sex. Possibly this is a defense mechanism to keep me from getting too close to someone. Whatever it is, it's a bitch. It's hard to keep doing your job during sex when you keep focusing on that one fault. Whew! I'm now done with my German final. That was probably the hardest class I've ever had. I worked my ass off. The exam took a solid 2 hours to complete and was 11 pages front & back. I diagramed so many sentences and transformed so many phrases into different cases that I almost went blind. The killer though was the long essay. I thought my hand was going to fall off. But I walked away happy. I studied for 4 solid days to take that exam. I wrote myself practice tests, I went to group study sessions, I did flashcards, I wrote and rewrote the rules for Dative and Genitive case. I beat myself to death with a Teutonic fervor. I walked in and made that exam my bitch. OORAH!

So now comes the hard part. the waiting. I did find out though that I've made all "A"s in everything else. All I need to do is get a "C" in German and I'm on dean's list! So overall I'm in a very good mood. I had to miss the game, but I think it was worth it.

In other news, I'm now dating someone. Not seriously, but we have fun. So possibly my life is looking up!

Why is it that the human mind can suddenly drop everything that's going on and on a whim travel back years? Just a single word that you hear uttered in a crowded room, a song you hear on the radio, the look in someone's eyes can bring back memories so overwhelming that you feel your feet become lead. Sometimes being human is a bitch.

I'm taking a break from studying my German and working on yet another Philosophy Paper. This one has to deal with Child Soldiers and whether or not they are valid targets. Pretty interesting stuff. It will probably piss people off, but then again, pissing people off is always where the interesting stuff is. Look at Galileo. Pissed off lots of people. Including the Pope! Look at Einstein. The other Physicists had said Physics was dead and when he started writing they wanted to kill him. Of course, I am not on the level of Einstein or Galileo, but the principle is the same. So here I sit, sifting through about 20 or so Academic and Military papers, trying to locate shreds of evidence to support my claims. Gotta love Friday nights. (G)

You are Form 5, Dragon: The Weaver.

"And The Dragon seperated the virtuous from
the sinful. He tore his eyes from his sockets
and used them to peer into the souls of those
on trial to make a judgement. He knew that
with endless knowledge came endless
responsibility."

Some examples of the Dragon Form are Athena
(Greek), St. Peter (Christian), and Surya
(Indian).
The Dragon is associated with the concept of
intelligence, the number 5, and the element of
wood.
His sign is the crescent moon.

As a member of Form 5, you are an intelligent and
wise individual. You weigh options by looking
at how logical they are and you know that while
there may not always be a right or wrong
choice, there is always a logical one. People
may say you are too indecisive, but it's only
because you want to do what's right. Dragons
are the best friends to have because they're
willing to learn.

Ok, you know you're studying too much philosophy when you find Sartre's Cookbook to be hilarious. I literally had pain in my sides from reading this.

Ugh. Need Sleep. Can't sleep the finals will eat me. Well, so far I'm done with 3 finals, with 3 more to go. I've got an Ethics final tomorrow and a German Oral Exam (the German final is next Monday). So much fun and so little time. Anyway, Back on my head. I hope everyone had a great holiday.
